Master Codes

MCs (master codes) are authorizations given under specific (special) circumstances. In normal circumstances, all employees are subject to a set of rules that apply without any exception. Nevertheless, it might sometimes be necessary to deviate from these standard rules for special situations. These authorizations can be registered by the employees when booking. The registration of an authorization does not always result in an automatic reaction of the system; sometimes, it might be desirable to let your employees register the authorizations and still have the supervisor judge each case separately.

Circumstances that might require an MC code:

·     Absence approval;
·     Deviation from the day program;
·     No revision;
·     No rounding;
·     Add bonus hours;
·     Overtime approval;
·     Holiday approval.

These MC bookings can be entered by the supervisor in the daily overview or by the employee selecting the MC option from the terminal or with a special MC badge for booking. MC badges are normal cards set to identify a special situation. Each badge has a unique number between 1 and 99. This way, Astrow can connect the badge to the MC with the corresponding number. Normally MC badges are used just before giving the booking that has to be authorized.
The terminals accept two kinds of MC badges:

·     The single MC badge: each employee who needs this code has to insert two badges, first the MC badge and then his individual badge. After the use of an individual badge (or after 30 sec.), the MC is erased.
·     The multiple MC badge: this MC badge stays active until it is inserted a second time and consequently erased from the terminal. The normal procedure of giving authorized bookings by an MCM card is: activate MCM authorization, employees bookings, deactivate MCM authorization. This means the MC will be applied to all bookings executed in between. For more detailed information concerning MC badges and how to encode them, please see Add, Edit and Delete a Special Card.
