About projects

The Projects module helps companies using Astrow to collect and process simple project work information and track activities performed by employees on various projects. The Projects module will calculate the time spent on various activities executed on project components.

Users will see and configure the Projects module with permissions View Employee Schedule Configuration and Edit Employee Schedule Configuration.

How it works:

Projects in Astrow are defined as a hierarchical structure of a project into divided components (Work Breakdown Structure – WBS) and activities performed on the lowest level components of the WBS.

Project design in Astrow Web

As shown in the tree, components and activities can be repeated in one or more sub-trees. The activities in this version of Astrow cannot be linked on same level with other components meaning that on each level of a sub-tree there are only components or only activities.

The depth of the project is maximum 5 including the Project node, components and activities. So the deepest project sub-tree contains:

Managing projects bookings

Each project has a start date and an end date, which can be changed. You can also set a life limit to each component or activity, or you can freeze the activity of a sub-tree. If the projects/components/activities are active within an interval, bookings are allowed (from the ST-25 terminal, Astrow Mobile, Astrow Terminal, Time Card or Team Manager) and calculated. Ultimately, the bookings are made per project activity. You can, however, see reports per components, activities and projects.

Inactive project or sub-trees cannot be selected for bookings on the terminal or in views.

For further instructions, please read Manage Projects.

Forgotten end project bookings

Forgotten end project bookings will be added automatically following the settings of the activity definitions (see New/Edit Activity for more details).
